There’s nothing quite like starting a Nantucket morning with a great cup of coffee. Whether you're heading to the beach, catching the ferry, meeting friends downtown, or getting ready for a day of exploring the island, Nantucket has plenty of places to grab a great coffee and something delicious to eat.
At Westbrook Real Estate, our family has called Nantucket home for generations. We've spent countless mornings around the island—from downtown to Sconset—and coffee is often where the day begins.
Here are 10 of our favorite coffee spots on Nantucket for 2026.
1. Handlebar Café

If we had to pick one coffee shop for the top of the list, Handlebar Café would be it.
Located just outside downtown, Handlebar has become one of Nantucket's go-to spots for specialty coffee, espresso drinks, pastries and breakfast. It's particularly popular with cyclists heading out to explore the island's bike paths.
Westbrook favorite: Vanilla latte and a fresh croissant.
Best for: Great coffee, breakfast, meeting friends and grabbing coffee before a bike ride.
Westbrook Real Estate previously named Handlebar its #1 coffee shop on Nantucket, citing its espresso, welcoming atmosphere and popularity with both locals and visitors.

Lemon Press is one of our favorite choices when coffee is only part of the morning plan.

If you ask us where we'd send someone for one great cup of coffee on Nantucket, we'd still start with Handlebar Café. It's consistently recognized as one of the island's top coffee destinations, and its combination of excellent coffee, pastries and relaxed Nantucket atmosphere makes it an easy favorite.
But that's part of what makes Nantucket so special. There's no single right way to spend a morning here.
You might grab a coffee downtown, bike to Sconset, stop for a pastry, head to the beach and somehow find yourself having another coffee by lunchtime.
That's Nantucket.
